The Name Game is Drawing to a Close

After a session of discussions that we refer to as "The Name Eye Test," (i.e. "which do you like better... this name or that name?"), we have narrowed it down to what we think are our top two (and final two) remaining choices. Now I'm curious as to what you guys think about either or both of these...

Marcus
Eric

Just so you know, Andrew came in a VERY close third, but we both conceded that we liked these two names just a little more than Andrew. I think most of that came down to the popularity of the names. Marcus and Eric are also quite popular (although with various spellings), but we simply prefer these names both aesthetically and historically (meaning they are historically significant to the world).

But we are about dead even on how we feel about them. So give us some feedback, please. Do you see any potential problems or major advantages to either of these?

I vote for Marcus!!

I think it sounds smoother with your last name...

I know two gay guys named Marcus and Eric..(Not that there's anything wrong with that) I'm sure it wasn't their names that made them that way, so no harm, I guess.

Ha! I know two gay guys both named Jason... I'm sure naming will have no effect on his sexuality. And even if it did, it wouldn't really matter to me. :-)

I like both names.

On another note..... Here is a story you might enjoy:

I vote for Marcus too!!

I know atleast four Erics, and they seemed to be all smooth-talkers and constantly surrounded by bimbos.

Hey, a State professor in the article. Cool!

As far as a smooth talker surrounded by bimbos... there are certainly WORSE fates for a guy, but point taken. :-)

Also, I'm not as settled on two names as Elizabeth is. Besides, she's already chosen one name for this baby already. There may be a name or two fighting to be included.

Gah! You agreed we were down to those two!

You're as fickle as a woman sometimes...

I don't think the name Eric, while a very nice name in its own right, goes that well with Caran. It's too singsongy. But if you choose it, I will quickly learn to love it.

I gotta go with Eric, but I still prefer Ironblade.

Ditto what Sophie said.

Marcus, and for the same reason.

Also because the little kid in "About a Boy" was named Marcus. I thought he was adorable. He looks just like old pictures of Kevin. (Kevin vehemently denies this.)
